Bangle Measurement Guide

With the weight, wall thickness and sound (yes, that familiar "clunk" known to dealers and collectors) Aurora's newly manufactured bangles mimic their retro counterparts of carved Bakelite, clear lucite and other vintage plastics exceptionally well but with a much more reasonable price tag than you'll find on true retro bangles in antique malls, online shops and even the occasional one in a lifetime flea market find!

Without seam lines or injection mold marks, these accessories are deeply and vividly colored and top of the line in manufacturing quality.

At these prices you can afford an armful!

AURORA BIJOUX MEASURES AS FOLLOWS:

1. Exterior Outer Edge Dimensions - Provided for Aesthetic Appeal

(a) EXTERIOR outer edge dimensions are provided first and include the measurement from one side of the OUTER edge to the opposite side of the OUTER edge followed by

(b) the HEIGHT of the bracelet's outer wall which is measured by placing the bracelet onto a flat surface and measuring upwards and finally by

(c) the THICKNESS of the bracelet's wall. The thickness of the wall is really the hardest to measure - especially on very rounded edged thick bangles - so please keep in mind that this number is as accurate as possible but approximated.

2. Interior Edge Dimensions - Provided for Sizing to Determine if Bangle will Fit OVER The Hand

(a) INNER CIRCUMFERENCE or total distance around the INNER edge of the circle followed by

(b) INNER DIAMETER or the length from one side of the INNER circle measuring straight across to the OPPOSITE side.

It's important to realize that (a) the INNER CIRCUMFERENCE of the bracelet will determine if a bangle bracelet will be able to fit onto your wrist! The measurement of your hand, around the knuckles when your hand is in a position to accept the bangle, must be LESS THAN the INNER CIRCUMFERENCE or you'll be unable to get the bracelet onto your wrist.

An INNER CIRCUMFERENCE does not play a role in bracelets that contain hinges - known as hinged bangles - as well as clampers or cuffs wherein the back of the bangle is open and need not slide over the hand to be worn.

Some cuffs, however, are not a one-size-fits most because they offer no flexibility to stretch the piece into a less deep or larger size. Plastic cuffs, for instance, have a permanent structure, will not enlarge and should not be purchased if the circumference of your wrist will not fit comfortably within the stated inner circumference.

Armed with the above information, you'll be able to make an informed decision as to whether or not a particular bangle will fit you and may then purchase with confidence!
